Delicious Fun for the Whole Family!
You’ve gone apple picking this season already but now you need to make something tasty with them! Why not make something fun that everyone in your home will love?! Scroll below to learn how to make your own homemade candy apples.
Ingredients:
Cooking spray or non-stick cooking oil
3/4 Cup of Sugar
1/2 Cup of Water
1/2 Cup of Light Corn Syrup
Red Food Coloring (add more for desired color)
6 Small/Medium Sized Apples (Honeycrisp & McIntosh recommended)
Wooden Sticks
Instructions:
Step 1
Prep a rimmed baking sheet with cooking spray. Line the baking sheet with parchment paper and grease the parchment paper generously with cooking spray again.
Step 2
Prep the apples by washing each thoroughly with warm water for at least 30 seconds per apple. If the apples still have wax residue on them, the candy coating will not stick. Next, take your wooden sticks and insert them into the top of each apple, ensuring you stop at about halfway through the apple.
Step 3
In a medium pot, combine your corn syrup, sugar, food coloring and water and bring this mixture to a boil over medium-high heat. Let it boil for about 15-20 minutes and remove from burner immediately.
Step 4
Right after removing the candy coating from heat, take your prepped apples and dip them into the pot ensuring each apple is fully coated. Be careful! The candy coating will still be extremely hot. Place each apple on the prepped baking sheet once you are done. Let the apples cool before serving.
Enjoy!
