A seriously FUN recipe! Who doesn’t love a mouthwatering fried treat?!
We are serving up a fun recipe after a little baking hiatus! These apple fritters are sure to be a huge hit this spring and summer. They’re like fried dough at a carnival but better because you can eat them fresh at home!
Ingredients:
1/4 cup of granulated sugar
3 cups of all purpose flour
1 Tablespoon of baking powder
1 Teaspoon of salt
1 1/4 cups of milk
1 Teaspoon of vanilla extract
4 Large eggs
4 Tablespoons of vegetable oil
6 apples, peeled and grated (We recommend using our Tasty & Imperfect™ Empire Apples!)
1/4 Cup of rainbow sprinkles
Vegetable Oil (For frying these tasty treats up!)
Glaze Ingredients:
3 Cups of powdered sugar
7 Tablespoons of milk
1 Teaspoon of vanilla extract
Rainbow Sprinkles (At your discretion)
Instructions:
Step 1
First, sift together the baking power, salt, flour and sugar. Whisk together the vanilla extract, milk, eggs, and the 4 tablespoons of vegetable oil. Next, blend the sifted mixture and whisked mixture together and add the apples until everything is evenly distributed. Carefully add the sprinkles and be sure to not over mix.
Step 2
Next, add about 1 inch of oil to a skillet and heat to 350°. Drop your batter into the heated oil. Make sure that both sides are browned well to ensure the inside is cooked all the way through. When done frying your batter, place your fritters on a paper towel to drain and cool before glazing.
Step 3
Whisk together the vanilla extract, milk and powdered sugar to make the glaze. Take either a pair of tongs or a fork and dip each fritter into the glaze and place on a cooling rack. Add more sprinkles on top and enjoy!
